The Norwegian Cruise was setup in 1966. It was founded with the purchase of an 830 ton steamer. The Cruise Norwegian today operates a modern fleet. Originally the Norwegian Cruises were famous for low cost Caribbean cruises. The NCL vessels are now found in Bermuda, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada and England.
In the year 2001 Norwegian Cruise Line made some radical changes and introduced the Freestyle Cruising. It was aimed at attracting the cruisers that seek a less regimented style of travel. This line of Norwegian Cruise features open seating and eating options in a lot of restaurants.
After the 9/11 incident the Norwegian Cruise line was the first liner to offer Homeland Cruising. This involved moving the Norwegian Dawn to New York. These involved inaugurating the NCL America program.
